This was my first event of the year and first post-lockdown event! The start was run TT-style for distancing purposes, with a deep water start at 15 seconds interval which worked out fine from a competitor standpoint, but I imagine it was an extra burden on the organisers, trying to get everyone to the right
From the Committee Despite lockdown there have been several club activities that have run over the last month. We held a virtual duathlon, an inner tube change challenge, competed in the Herts Club Champs and we’ve been featured in the Herts Advertiser: read the article here. Open water swimming sessions are now regularly taking place at both the Blue
IMPORTANT: CLUB SESSIONS CANCELLED! In view of the just updated government advice to avoid non-essential social contact, the club regrettably is putting on hold all club training activities with immediate effect. This includes swimming tonight; there will be no swimming session tonight, Monday 16th. There will also be no further Thursday swim sessions until further notice
From the Committee Welcome to another year of triathlon and other assorted madness. There are several important announcements in this newsletter so please don’t delete this. Firstly, the date of our AGM is Friday 20th March, 8pm, in the Goat in St Albans. Details have been posted in Facebook and on our WhatsApp group as
I have survived my first aquathon 💥My decision not wear a wetsuit was a good one. From the moment I put my toe in the water I knew it would be too hot for a wetsuit. Not that is quickened my transition 🤷♂️Started slightly away from the pack and didn’t get too many kicks during the swim.
The last few years I’ve been focusing on the longer tri events but recently I decided to put a bit of fun into my training and try to speed things up a bit so I entered this. Well the forecast was for lightning so I didn’t really think it would go ahead. I arrived ready
Wet morning at Stanborough today wondering if the thunderstorm was heading towards us! Wetsuit or No Wetsuit that was my second thing I needed to put more thought into. Well I was planing on wearing it but decided against it with about 5 minutes to go as I didn’t want to wash and dry it
So… where to start… It’s been 8 weeks since I completed my first Olympic triathlon and became the Herts Champion and so there was definitely some nerves around but overall was excited to get back out racing. So the swim was the toughest I have experienced so far in my recent move to Triathlon. Firstly
Quick race report before we head off on holiday (Alps and heatwave here we come…) Um swim – terrible. Beaten up from the start – punched and kicked round every buoy on first lap – so far behind by second I couldn’t do much to limit the damage. All good practice at how to get
After the nightmare of Ibiza last year I decided that I was going to take a couple of years out from competing in the European Championships but when I heard it was going to be in Transylvania, I just couldn’t help myself (I have to admit I didn’t know that Transylvania was a real place).
